Задача

An FPSO operator needed a compact choke and kill manifold system for a new wellhead platform tie-back. The challenge was three-fold: the manifold had to fit within a severely restricted deck footprint (2.5m × 1.8m), handle a maximum wellhead shut-in pressure of 13,500 PSI, and meet ABS classification society requirements for offshore safety-critical equipment. The customer also required the manifold to be pre-commissioned and function-tested before offshore installation to minimize platform hook-up time.

JLD Energy designed a custom skid-mounted choke and kill manifold with dual Model H2 adjustable choke valves (15,000 PSI with tungsten carbide trim) in a compact parallel configuration. The manifold utilized Fig 1502 hammer unions for all high-pressure flow line connections, minimizing flange weight and footprint. The skid base was fabricated from marine-grade stainless steel with hot-dip galvanized finish for offshore corrosion resistance. The design was reviewed and approved by ABS classification society. Factory acceptance testing included: shell test at 22,500 PSI (1.5× CWP), seat tests on all valves, full functional test of the choke valve actuators, and dimensional verification of all connection points against the platform piping isometric drawings.

Результат

The manifold was delivered to the integration yard in Singapore, pre-commissioned, and installed in a single 12-hour offshore campaign — significantly faster than the 3-day installation estimate for the original flange-based design. The compact footprint (2.3m × 1.7m actual) was under the deck space allocation. The manifold has operated continuously for 18 months without any unscheduled maintenance. The operator has since ordered two additional manifolds for sister platforms.
